Preg O'Donnell & Gillett Pro Bono Commitment

Preg O’Donnell & Gillett PLLC has been fortunate to experience both professional and financial success since its inception in 1996, and has historically encouraged all of its employees to thank its local community for its success through community involvement and support. 

POG recognizes, however, that attorneys possess unique skills that enable them to navigate and advocate within the judicial process.  With these skills comes a professional obligation and responsibility to provide legal services free of charge to underserved communities that would otherwise face difficult legal situations without representation. 

Thus, it was with great pleasure that POG launched its first "official" pro bono program in January of 2008.  POG is committed to providing 250 hours of pro bono service, separate and apart from the non-legal volunteer community activities and charitable giving that POG has traditionally participated in.  While such community involvement is invaluable and will continue, POG recognizes that its commitment to provide pro bono legal services is not satisfied by these activities.

For purposes of its pro bono commitment, POG distinguishes community service from pro bono legal services.  POG has adopted the Washington State Bar Association’s definition of "pro bono service" as providing legal services without fee or expectation of fee to: (1) persons of limited means, or (2) charitable, religious, civil, community, governmental and educational organizations in matters which are designed primarily to address the needs of the persons of limited means. 

All attorneys at POG are strongly encouraged to participate in pro bono activities, and associates will receive billable hour credit for their work.  POG looks forward to the continued professional development and satisfaction it has achieved to date by providing pro bono legal services through its new pro bono program.
