Professional Experience

Lizz has handled a wide-range of civil litigation matters including insurance defense, commercial, construction, employment, personal injury, malpractice, and insurance coverage claims. She has gained a wide range of knowledge by defending clients in a number of industries with complicated legal issues. She has significant pre-trial and trial experience and has obtained defense verdicts at trial as well as won at arbitration and settled matters prior to trial.

Prior to relocating to Portland, Lizz practiced for six years in Chicago, where she represented clients in all aspects of litigation. She has presented CLEs on audit trials, and mindfulness and the law. Outside of work Lizz is a certified yoga instructor, loves to travel, and is learning woodworking and Nepali.

Education

Lizz earned her Juris Doctor from DePaul College of Law in 2013. While in law school, she competed for the DePaul Appellate Moot Court Team. She was champion of the William J. Bauer Moot Court Competition in Chicago, best oralist and quarter-finalist at the National Juvenile Law Competition in Costa Mesa, California, and semi-finalist at the National First Amendment Competition in Nashville, Tennessee. DePaul College of Law’s faculty elected her to the Order of the Barristers, a national honors society recognizing achievement in written and oral advocacy. She also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Civil Litigation Strategy.

Lizz attended Truman State University where she received a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, in biology. While at Truman State, Lizz served as Student Body President, Chair of the Vision Document Committee, and Chair of the Student Academic Affairs Committee as well as student representative to Faculty Senate, and the Curriculum Commission. She was also involved in the Beta Beta Beta and Omicron Delta Kappa honors fraternities.
