Professional Experience
Curtis Leonard’s practice focuses exclusively on the representation of school districts in Washington State. Curtis represents districts on a wide variety of school law issues, including: labor and employment; collective bargaining; union grievances and arbitration; employee misconduct investigations; employee discipline; student and teacher rights; board governance; public disclosure and open public meetings, and special education.
Curtis started his career as an associate attorney in a Washington, DC area firm specializing in employment law. In 2006, Curtis joined the Auburn School District as the Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs. As in-house counsel for the district, Curtis represented the district on all legal issues arising out of the daily operation of schools. As a former district employee, Curtis has a unique understanding of the complex issues facing school districts. He brings a client-focused approach and is passionate about advocating for schools.
Education
- He graduated Cum Laude from American University, Washington College of Law in 2005.
- Curtis attended Brigham Young University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
