David Chawes will be a speaker at a seminar entitled: “Legal Aspects of Worksite Safety and Health” to be held Feb. 24, 2010. Sponsor is NW Center for Occupational Health & Safety. This seminar will review the elements of third-party liability when an employee has an accident at a facility other than that owned or run by his or her employer. Speakers will include plaintiff and defense lawyers in Washington who have experienced third-party liability litigation.

- Mark O'Donnell and Emma Gillespie spoke at the Washington Schools Risk Management Pool "Athletic Liability Training" seminar at the Puget Sound Educational Service offices in Renton and Anacortes, WA. These presentations discussed current athletic liability issues, and the proactive steps school districts can take to avoid both student injuries and legal liability land mines arising from both PE Classes and after school sports. Examples of current cases and the legal standard of care applicable in common sports and athletic scenarios were also discussed.
