Mark F. O’Donnell and Eric P. Gillett recently completed the three-day Litigation Management Institute earning the designation of Certified Litigation Management Professionals (CLMP). Hosted at Columbia Law School in New York City, the Litigation Management Institute (LMI) is the first certification program specifically designed to bring together leaders in the insurance and legal professions to provide a comprehensive understanding of the business of litigation management. The intensive program is designed to bridge the gap between legal theory and litigation strategy and the business aspects of litigation management. The curriculum includes sessions on Client Relations, Expectations and Confidentiality; Reserving and Data Management; Document and File Management; Evaluation and Assessment, Impact Reporting and Reserving; Coverage Perspectives; Fundamentals of Risk Transfer; Resolution Strategies; Practical Aspects of Litigation Management; and Litigation Metrics. The course is limited to 100 participants and includes 10 units taught by directors and senior management from premier insurers, and attorneys with substantial experience in management of law firms.
